Drug and Alcohol laws in New Jersey

As the rate of addiction of drug and alcohol increasing among the citizens of USA, New Jersey is not far behind. The rate of increase is quite alarming through the nation. The addiction is vastly found on the young citizen of the country.
As the number is increasing the measures are also being taken by the government of United States, they are establishing rehab centers through out every stet so that the drug addicted patients could be healed with stress relived treatments. In order to stop the rise it is very much essential to make the problem of drug and alcohol addiction nipped in the bud. One such way is enforcing several laws against the drug and alcohol offenders.
The Laws that are being designed for New Jersey are quite effective in tackling the menace of drug addiction. The comprehensive New Jersey drug reform act is one of the most effective law which has been came into force from 1987, is a law against the student drug addicts. Such laws prevents the students to get addicted with drug consumption as it will penalized if a student is being found consuming drugs and even are liable to put behind bars under this act. Some other rules under which a drug addict or a drug provider are also effective in New Jersey. They are as follows:
- If a person dies due to the consumption of drug the drug provider will be put behind bars under the offence of criminal homicide.
- Within 1000 feet of school premises or property be it elementary or secondary one possessing, inheriting or distributing drugs are fined with dollar 100,000 and imprisonment for six months initially. Punishment depends upon the amount of drug possession by the person concern.
- A person selling drug to a person below 17 years i.e. to a minor or any pregnant women once found will be charged with hard penalties.
- A driver found driving consuming drugs under drug recognition evaluator will be charged with stiffer penalties including the dismiss of the driving license.
Alcohol consumption is also another factor of concern but it has a certain limitation of consuming and a certain age group under which this could be also found to be offense under the alcohol laws of New Jersey. The New Jersey government officials combating the menace of drug and alcohol addiction with the help of rehab centers.
