540325 49382752 300x199 The Criminal Gangs of NJ and the Popular Drug TradeThe Crips street gang is one of the most popular criminal groups practicing drug trade within the state. Off late, the gang was reported to recruit new members in the smaller towns of the state, aiming to expand their empire in the schools too. There is another popular group operating in New Jersey. The gang is known by the name of Bloods street gang. Recently, this gang has become very dominant in the Camden area of New Jersey. They have increased their control of drug trade in the area more than ever now and are emerging more powerful than the rest of the smaller drug trafficking gangs of the neighborhood. This competition among the various drug smuggling criminal gangs have often resulted in greater levels of violence amongst the competing parties.

In the last few years, the price of the illegal drug cocaine has been fluctuating. There are two possible explanations for this. Either the drug has become subject to price manipulations or much of this drug is being smuggled to Europe by cutting off the supply to the eastern coast. There are a plenty of dealers in New Jersey who have switched from their cocaine trade to heroin business. Following this trend now, some of the abusers who relied on the prescription narcotics are switching over to heroin. Heroin is after all, much cheaper than cocaine. With all these happening, there has been a rise in demand for heroin within the state as rates of addiction is also doubling up fast.
This threatening scenario of multiplying drug trade and drug addiction within New Jersey, calls for a more concerned attention and stricter law enforcement. Besides, the state also needs to open up more addiction treatment centers. Marijuana is also very popular drug of addiction amongst the addicts of this state. Like elsewhere, in New Jersey also the drug is widely abused. However, it is not considered one amongst the biggest threats in the state. The primary threat of New Jersey today is cocaine, followed shortly by heroin. Both these drugs have led to a few deaths in New Jersey. In the year 2007, almost hundred people were reported to be dead in a drug related incident that shook the entire metropolitan area of New Jersey. The Union county and the Morris County recorded the majority of these drug deaths. The top drugs which were involved in killing these people include cocaine, benzodiazapines, opiates, alcohol and other antidepressant drugs.
