Overdose of drugs has become a cause for worry among the citizens of New Jersey. The scene has become quite pathetic because drug overdose is claiming countless lives each year. These deaths can be prevented by better initiatives and proper education on the subject. Citizens are advised to take initiatives to fight against drug overdose. The Drug Overdose Reduction Act calls citizens of New Jersey to become advocates of the acts and help in fight against drug overdose.
The cost of drug overdose prevention is minimal and the gain is that it saves many lives. Overdose prevention programs aim at educating the people who are at a risk of drugs overdose. They provide the victims with valuable information. There is a drug called naloxone, it helps in reversal of the effects of drug overdose. This drug should be made readily available so that it can save lives in times of emergency. This drug is also known as Narcan. It is not very expensive and works well in restoring breath to the overdose drug victim who becomes unconscious. Drug Policy Alliance’s report features a range of solutions that can save lives of many people; it also includes the Good Samaritan 911 overdose policies implementation in every state. Purple Ribbons for Overdose Prevention is an awareness campaign that is lead by The Drug Policy Alliance.
The campaign aims at spreading awareness about the hazards of drug overdose. It is a national effort to save lives and spread useful information to the people entangled in the web of drug abuse. About 11,000 members from all over the globe support this campaign. They share knowledge and get involved in the matter related to drug overdose. As a human being, I feel that it is our primary duty to help those who are in need. To work for this cause we can donate money or get actively involved in the matter related to the issue. We should get more and more involved in these issues and fight collectively.
The state of drug overdose cases in New Jersey has become a serious issue to think over and get actively involved. If the reversal drug is made available, it will be a boon to the victims of drug overdose. People should be educated as to which first aid they should give in case of drug overdose. Everyone should keep a strict vigilance on people who are related to drug abuse, they might need help at any time.

Cases of co morbidity in New Jersey due to drug abuse
Last Updated on Monday, 3 May 2010 08:35 Written by Nic Friday, 19 March 2010 02:10
Drug abuse is an evil on its own and it also comes with loads of health problems. Recent study in New Jersey has shown that drug abuse can lead to various other mental illnesses. The medical condition when two disorders occur simultaneously in a person is called co morbidity. Studies in New Jersey show that six out of ten people with drug abuse disorder suffer from other mental disorders as well.
The causes of these mental disorders that are related to drug abuse are overlapping of genetic vulnerabilities, overlapping of environmental triggers and involvement of same brain regions. These reasons trigger co morbidity. The most prominent of all the reasons is stress, trauma and
tension that are related to drug abuse. The drug abuse disorder begins from early childhood. This is the time when brain is undergoing many changes. Availability of drug from an early age makes the problem even more prominent. Genetic vulnerabilities play a very important role in drug abuse disorder, the genetic vulnerabilities makes a person more susceptible to drug addiction. The cases for co morbidity are pretty common. Patients who have mood or anxiety disorder have a tendency to suffer from drug abuse disorder; in fact the statistics show that they are twice as likely. The cases of co morbidity also depend on gender.
The tendency to develop other mental disorders along with drug abuse disorder is more prevalent in men. The disorder that they suffer from along with drug abuse disorder is anti social disorder. Women suffer from post traumatic stress disorder, depression and other disorders. The treatment requires a comprehensive approach to the multiple problems. The treatment should identify, evaluate and treat both disorders at one go. Careful diagnosis should be made for the proper treatment of the problem. The disorder should be precisely identified in order to give proper treatment.
The mental illness often increases the dependency on the drugs. This should be kept in mind while treating the problem. Often the disorder appears as a mixture of many disorders, this poses a problem in from of the physicians. In this case, the patient should be treated with utmost care. Behavioral treatment is given to patients of certain age groups. The best way to treat the problem is concurrent therapy, both pharmacological as well as behavioral. Broad spectrum diagnosis is also very essential for proper treatment. The patients with severe cases of multiple disorders should be moved to a rehabilitation centre. This will ensure that they get the extra care that they need.

The growth of Drug courts in New Jersey
Last Updated on Monday, 3 May 2010 08:35 Written by Nic Tuesday, 2 March 2010 02:25
Since the cocaine epidemic hit New Jersey in 1980’s, the laws related to drug addictions have been overwhelmed by the new ideas and strategies. The major controversy was the denial system adopted by the traditional courts where the victim was totally prohibited from the intake of drugs as soon it was discovered which proved fatal in later years to the same victim and people of related class.
Annual Report on Adult Arrestees has reported that the crime rate has been higher in New Jersey due to higher intake of drugs. The prisons have been overloaded due to high majority of minority age people and thus the focus of the judiciary has been shifted from outcomes to dispensing
the cases without effective remedy. The role of Drug rehabilitation has made the mark with coordinated treatment and specialized supervision.
These days the growth of drug courts is there to increase people’s reliability on them rather on centers. The prime issue of courts to end the endless cycle which goes like drug intake leads to crimes and then to moving of courts, if courts denial or progressed with no treatment to victim it starts again with intake. The basic of drug court is that it addresses the offender in the best way of justice and good conscience.
The growth of drug court depends on the coordination between the team members including rank wise division of work. It includes Superior court Judge, Court Coordinator and special ranked Substance Abuse Evaluator. Since the growth is the main target it includes the courts collaboration process with other specialized agencies. The approach is holistic in nature while dealing with the offender and non – adversarial process is used. The jurisdiction or the power to entertain the case by court especially focuses on the non – violent offenders. Like any other court it does not entertain the offenders who have cases pending in other authorized courts. One of the key considerations taken by court is the aim of applicant to approach it. It must be motivated and non – profitable.
Program reports have said the success stories of courts and the percentage band is between 65 – 75%. Thus, it can be clearly inferred that the growth in drug courts in New Jersey has been tremendous. The financial impact of such courts is these courts are time and money saving and are now preferred over drug centers who have been holding high price rates for the disposal of case.

The exposed mystic story of Alcohol and Drugs in My Life
Last Updated on Monday, 3 May 2010 08:35 Written by Nic Tuesday, 2 March 2010 02:20
It was the day when I lost my mother due to the fact she was totally tired of making my father make realize how his being alcoholic has killed her dreams. Yes, I will never forgive my father despite the fact he now regrets. I, Sam lost my brother Dean in a gang attack in New Jersey when he refused to drink alcohol and to consume drugs.
He once said it is nice to drink. I do not know. I really loved my mother. But she loved my father more I guess who loved alcohol. Dean was one
of the persons who never drank but used to tell the stories of gangs reputation due to high level drinking. Alcohol ruined my life and drugs snatched by brother. I am alone and all alone but still it is like an exposed mystery for me.
Yes, I hate my father, I hate the people who killed my brother but still I am drinking neat whisky 20 times a week. I am used to cocaine and it is easily available in New Jersey. It started when I was in Hostel where I was left by my Uncle. My friends used to tell it is like heaven but for me from my childhood it was hell. But when I took the first sip I lost memory of Dean, mom and dad.
I am 27 and I am used to high doses of drugs. I take them as it washes those thorny memories. But sometimes, it feels like thorns inside my own stomach. People say alcohol is a call of god to take one away. They say it is a great sin and is way to hell. To lose one’s family is a better hell or should I continue drinking and take drugs to visit the other hell. I am so used to hell visits, but where I am heading too I do not know.
When ever people come nearby and say “Stop” I wished I would have stopped mom from doing suicide, or dad, but now I do not know how to stop myself.
I wished I could just stop when I started first time. I, Sam, want to say despite you lose everything do not go to drugs or alcohol as the solution like I did which became my life’s biggest problem. You could move on to live a productive life ignoring the black emotional clouds.
